Margaret Brent’s motto is “Character. Creativity. Community.” We strive to achieve these values in every choice we make.

Our Commitment to Character

Margaret Brent prides itself on its family atmosphere and its commitment to teaching enduring concepts of character, including honesty, curiosity, and responsibility. Students collaborate across grade levels and engage in cooperative learning that supports their own academic growth and contributes to the broader community. Our parents and community members volunteer in the building, take part in the PTO and School Family Council, and help shape our school’s success.

We are a Community School

Margaret Brent is situated in the heart of Charles Village, a walkable, welcoming urban neighborhood that provides a one-of-a-kind setting for student learning and community engagement. As a Community School, supported by Strong City Baltimore, we believe the community plays an important role in the development of our students’ full academic and social development. We learn from the rich offerings of our diverse surroundings and, in return, prepare our students to be successful, productive citizens in their community.

Our Arts-Integration Curriculum

Margaret Brent partners with the Johns Hopkins School of Education to support an Arts-focused approach to teaching and learning. Supplemented with a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) program guided by the Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering, our program in Arts Integration helps Margaret Brent students build the kinds of skills—in the humanities, math, and science—that instill a lifetime love of learning and position them to realize their full education potential.
